This is my first attempt using a more traditional in-glaze luster. This piece truly needs to be seen in person to understand the depth. Gold accents catch the light while a sparkling glitter inlay clouds add an extra touch of wonder. Every surface of this piece is filled with thoughtful details and countless hours of craftsmanship.
This mug was a joy to create and represents an incredible amount of work. The form was wheel-thrown before layers of drippy slip were added and carefully carved to create space for the clouds and rainbow. Multiple custom luster glazes were applied before the piece underwent 4 firings and a cold-working process to achieve its final form.
This is more than a mug. It's a one-of-a-kind piece of functional fine art designed to bring a little beauty, joy, and wonder into everyday life.
